Neutral Milk Hotel have added a string of dates to their reunion tour.

As well as playing their first live shows since 1999 starting this October in Baltimore, before more US shows and gigs in Australia, New Zealand, Taipei and Tokyo, they will be playing a host of North American shows in 2014, before next year's Primavera Sound and Optimus Primavera Sound festivals in Barcelona, Spain (May 29-31, 2014) and Porto, Portugal (5-7 June, 2014).

The 2014 dates start at Toronto's Kool Haus on January 20 and will see the band playing four shows in New York City, at Brooklyn's BAM Howard Gilman Opera House Brooklyn on January 24-25 and at Webster Hall on January 27-28. The reformed band will also play shows across the East Coast and in the Southern States during February. No West Coast dates have been announced, leading to speculation that the band will play California's Coachella festival in the spring. For a full list of tour dates, visit walkingwallofwords.com

The cult band have been on hiatus since their last studio album – 1998's 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' and its subsequent tour. Aside from a 2001 live album and a 2002 album of Bulgarian music, the band have been keeping a low profile – although singer Jeff Mangum played a string of solo dates in 2010 and curated ATP at Butlins in Minehead in March last year.

The touring line-up of the band will consist of Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes.
