Neutral Milk Hotel are set to play a handful of UK and Ireland dates as part of their forthcoming world tour.

The band start their lengthy run of shows next week in Baltimore (October 11) and will make their way over to the UK next spring, playing Dublin Vicar Street on May 16, 2014, followed by Manchester Albert Hall on May 18, Glasgow Barrowland on May 19 and London's Roundhouse on May 21. They will then play two shows in France before appearances at Primavera Sound and Optimus Primavera Sound festivals in Barcelona, Spain (May 29-31, 2014) and Porto, Portugal (5-7 June, 2014). The cult band have been on hiatus since their last studio album – 1998's 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' and its subsequent tour. Aside from a 2001 live album and a 2002 album of Bulgarian music, the band have been keeping a low profile – although singer Jeff Mangum played a string of solo dates in 2010 and curated ATP at Butlins in Minehead in March last year.

The touring line-up of the band will consist of Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes.

Neutral Milk Hotel will play:

Dublin Vicar Street (May 16, 2014)
Manchester Albert Hall (18)
Glasgow Barrowland (19)
London Roundhouse (21)
