The New Pornographers reveal album details

The New Pornographers have revealed some details of their forthcoming album.

The follow-up to 2005’s highly successful ‘Twin Cinema’ is expected to be released in August, and features the band’s longest song to date.

“We’ve got demos in various stages of completion for about 14 songs,” frontman Carl Newman told Under the Radar.

“We have our longest song yet at six-and-a-half minutes. We’re shooting for an end of August release, which means we’ll have to get it completed by the end of April so that it can leak the first week of May.”

Past collaborators including singer Neko Case are expected to make their return on the as-yet untitled album.

“I think it’s going to be a little more epic-sounding, maybe a little weirder and more minimal instrumentally,” said Newman. “There are one or two songs that are full-on ballads. Vocally I think it’s going to be more over-the-top.”

The band have just announced that they will perform at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California on April 28.
