New York Dolls play smallest show in 35 years

The legends launch punk festival with boutique gig

Punk legends The New York Dolls played a 200 capacity show last night (March 9) in London, their smallest gig in over three decades.

Celebrating the launch of Selfridge’s Future Punk Exhibition, the band were watched by Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock and former Adam And The Ants guitarist Marco Pirroni.

Playing songs including ‘Puss In Boots’, ‘Jet Boy’ and ‘Pills’, the group dedicated an acoustic version of ‘You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’ to the band's late guitarist Johnny Thunder.

Meanwhile the Future Punk Exhibition, which celebrates 30 years since the birth of British punk, runs until March 24 and will feature performances from The Buzzcocks and The Slits, plus film screenings, readings and an exclusive Club NME night featuring The Long Blondes and Vincent Vincent And The Villains on March 24.
