Dave Grohl, Heath Ledger for Nick Drake tribute album
Stars come together to celebrate Drake's life
The project, which is scheduled to be released later this year, was confirmed by David Schulhof, co-founder of US publisher EverGreen Copyrights, reports Billboard.
Schulhof said the project would also include a previously unreleased video starring Heath Ledger on the accompanying DVD.
Ledger is understood to have filmed his version of Drake's 'Black Eyed Dog' in late 2007. The actor had previously expressed a desire to make a documentary about Drake.
Video footage of the making of the album is also set to be included on the DVD, and the project will be released on Jack Johnson's Brushfire label.
Nick Drake died in 1974, aged 26, of a suspected drug overdose.
