Trent Reznor tells fan to 'go fuck yourself' during Reddit AMA
NIN man responds in jest when asked about working with major record label again
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails told a fan to "go fuck yourself" during an online Q&A yesterday (March 5).
Reznor took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) ahead of the release of the debut album from his new band How To Destroy Angels and was asked by a fan: "As millionaires, why did you sign up with a record label to promote your new album?" This comes following Reznor returning to major label Columbia to release the album, having previously vowed never again to work with big labels in his career. Responding, with tongue firmly in cheek, Reznor wrote:
Sorry, the wifi on our yacht is having issues, we can't get your full question to load. Try sending me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Elsewhere in the chat with fans, Trent Reznor said that his work with David Fincher on the soundtracks to his last two movies helped inspire him to get Nine Inch Nails back together for a US tour this summer. Speaking about the director of The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Reznor said: "Working with David Fincher taught me a lot about collaboration, and How To Destroy Angels allowed me to work in a band environment that I found very rewarding. I don't know that I was ever comfortable enough with myself earlier in my life to be able to open up and collaborate. Regarding NIN, what's interesting to me about re-assembling it is trying some new things out with a different type of line-up. We're not deep into NIN rehearsals yet, but the idea is exciting."
Trent Reznor confirmed the return of Nine Inch Nails in a statement posted online last month. The frontman confirmed that Nine Inch Nails will play live this summer and revealed details of the new line-up in the group. Appearing alongside Reznor will be Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, King Crimson's Adrian Belew and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv alongside long-term collaborators Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin.
