This is what Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ sounds like as a pop punk anthem

It sounds a lot more upbeat

Nirvana‘s classic hit ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has been turned into a breezy pop-punk anthem. Scroll below to listen.

The summery take comes from Austin band Sleep Good, who have transformed the song by using a major scale for the track.

This new – markedly more upbeat – version has been retitled ‘Teen Sprite’ and sounds somewhere between Weezer and REM. Check it out below.

Meanwhile, it was reported last October that Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean and widow Courtney Love were in the midst of a legal battle against the release of photos of his body following the music icon’s death.

Reports claimed to have come across official court documents detailing Cobain’s widow and daughter’s battle to prevent journalist and conspiracy theorist Richard Lee’s attempts to have police photos from the scene of the singer’s death released to the public. Said images portray Kurt’s body “as it lay in the family residence after he was shot in the head.”

Cobain’s surviving family argued that sharing the images “would not only exacerbate the post-traumatic stress Frances Bean Cobain has suffered since childhood but physically endanger her and her mother by encouraging more disturbed stalkers and fanatical threats.”

The late Nirvana frontman was found dead at his home in April 1994 after taking his own life.
