Courtney Love working on Kurt Cobain documentary
She is apparently joining forces with Rolling Stones collaborator Brett Morgen on the film
Filmmaker Brett Morgen, who directed The Rolling Stones' documentary Crossfire Hurricane, has said that he is teaming up with Love to make a movie about the Nirvana frontman, which will be released in 2014.
Speaking earlier this week, via the NY Post, Morgen said that the pair have been in talks about a film since 2007. He said:
Courtney is the one that brought me into this. We've been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now… Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life.
News of the film comes after Love denied rumours that a Broadway musical based on Cobain was in the works.
She told The Observer: "there will be no musical" as "sometimes it's best just to leave things alone".
Love recently gave up some rights to Cobain's likeness and Nirvana's publishing, which has caused anger among fans who believe she is watering down the singer's legacy. This was highlighted when it was revealed that CBS are working on a new family sitcom titled Smells Like Teen Spirit.
