Bands confirmed for 2006 ShockWaves NME Awards Tour

NME tour: full line up revealed
Maximo Park, Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists and Mystery Jets have been confirmed for the 2006 ShockWaves NME Awards Tour.

Headliners Maximo Park have admitted it'll be difficult to follow last year’s headliners The Killers when the tour kicks off in Dublin on January 24th.

“There’s always pressure when you’re headlining,” said the group's vocalist Paul Smith. “You always want to entertain people as you’re the last thing people see before they leave the building. Our shows are known for their energy and the passion that’s on display and people will get more of the same on this tour. We won’t let up now.”

Meanwhile the Mystery Jets have said that they are excited about following the likes of The Coral, Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs in the prestigious opening slot.

“We’ve just got the play the best set we’ve got in us,” said singer Blaine Harrison “We’re just going to have to steal the show, but all the bands will be trying the same thing.”

With the initial advanced NME allocation of tickets selling out in a few hours last week, it’s expected that the remaining tickets for the tour will be snapped-up in record time.

A limited number of tickets are set to go on sale from NME Tickets at 9am tomorrow (November 29) and then the rest will go on general release on Wednesday (November 30).
