Klaxons have been crowned Best New Band at tonight's (March 1) Shockwaves NME Awards.

The trio were presented with their prize by BBC Radio 1 presenters Edith Bowman and Jo Whiley.

The other nominees were:

The Fratellis
The Horrors
The Kooks
The View

The band seemed visibly moved and even a little tearful as they came up to collected their prize.

"Jeez, well, thank you so much," said Jamie Righton. "We are indeed a new band! But I'd like to mention how good Tim Burgess looks. Thanks to The View too. Cheers."
