All-star line-up set for new Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig

Manic Street Preachers, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs have signed up an exclusive Big Gig at the 02 Arena in London on the night of the 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards (February 28).

With the ceremony itself taking place ahead of the gig in the next-door IndgiO2 venue, it means for the first time ever fans can really get involved in the awards.

Manic Street Preachers who have been named the ’God Like Genius’ for the 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards headline the event, with a Best Of The Shockwaves NME Awards Tour bill playing ahead of them.

Reflecting the now massive bands who enjoyed a leg-up on the tour before going on to great things, that means Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs.

Tickets for the Big Gig will now go on sale from 9am (December 18) exclusively through NME.COM.

To get your Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig tickets simply head to NME.COM/biggig.

Luckily it only took one or two journalists to see the potential of the band's early material & intelligent outlook- it seems that just one positve review in a sea of negatives is enough to drive towards destiny shaping event, which is very reassuring.

In a review by Nme's Stephen Wells of the Manics first single Suicide Alley... he made MSP his single of the week saying: 'They have more anger and intelligence then any band I have ever interviewed... They will be the most important rock band in the world.'

Thank cripes for the Melody Maker's Bob Stanley and NME's Stephen Wells- all hail their vision and sonic taste.
