Hotly tipped act take home the prize for new bands

Glasvegas have won the Philip Hall Radar award at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008.

The award is voted for by NME’s staff and is named in honour of the late manager of The Stone Roses and Manic Street Preachers.

The Scottish newcomers picked up the prize from Dirty Pretty Things' Carl Barat.
