Kate Nash and Billy Bragg team up at Shockwaves NME Awards

Bards of the past and present mash up their biggest hits

Kate Nash and Billy Bragg have mashed up their hits ‘Foundations’ and ‘A New England’ for an exclusive performance at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008.

The duo performed the two tracks at London’s IndigO2, with Bragg adding guitar and vocals to Nash’s 2007 Number Two hit and the pianist contributing her keyboard and vocal skills to the veteran singer-songwriter’s 1983 signature tune.

The late Kirsty MacColl covered Bragg’s song in 1985, contributing an extra verse which Bragg continues to sing in her honour following her death in 2000.

Speaking before the performance, Nash also took issue with the readers' votes for Best Live Band.

"I have to say Muse aren't the best live band," she told the audience. "The Cribs are!"
