The only ones I agree with are Best Live, Best TV Show and Best Radio Show.

How the hell did Klaxons win best album. Yeah, an album of covers and shite noise. Enemy and Babyshambles too? Is this the most overrated album shortlist?

Killers best international? Are the majority of readers stupid? How did Arctics win best video for Teddy Picker.

This was almost as laughable as the Brits.

The drug-laced, pug-ugly and musically unremarkable Pete Doherty is hero of the year, right? Terrible, absolutely terrible.

Wonderful picks, very advanced tastes on display. Nice to see Babyshambles up there in the running, as I liked the Libertines muchly. Just to toss in my opinion, I like Times New Viking, Battles, The Homosexuals, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Liars, The Skabs (Peoria, IL USA), and Alec Empire a lot right at the moment. I got a lot of great free mp3s of Pavement and others at Hype Machine. MySpaceMusic (artists pages) is how I contact my buddies at Caroliner Rainbow, The Homosexuals, Malkmus, Rhys Chatham, Alec Empire, etc. I just signed up for Last.fm, and it allows you to add large music files (stereo mp3s), eg my Str8 Sounds 32:00 "mind of wind and trees" song. Really digging the My NME Beta, and no problems or bugs found so far. Thanks for the privilege of being listed here.

What?
What?

I have basically lost a lot of respect for NME. I am speechless. The NME awards have become a farse.
It will be a while until I buy another magazine. Thanks for nothing.

Seriously, it baffles me that Arctic Monkeys got a record deal - let alone win an award. The music industry is a mess...

Wembley Stadium wins Best Venue? It's a bloody football ground for christ's sake! It hosted exactly 9 gigs in the last year, including Concert For Diana, and f***ing George f***ing Michael, lest we forget. Obviously Barrowlands, Brixton Academy, Astoria, Rock City etc with their 100's of fake 'NME style' shows stood no chance against the hot dog eating masses! Are you sure some intern didn't mistake best gig (Muse possibly?) with venue? Very sad..

OMG
My Chemical Romance should have won something!!!

why did teddy picker win best video please, its just them in a studio, bollocks
also the wombats best dance floor filler, flux or hummer are much better
anddd, the enemy best new band, the enemy arent bad, but theyve had 2 decent songs and thats it, should have been foals all the way

im quite upset

The video for teddy picker is the most boring unimaginative video I'v seen. The only reason they won, is because people who havn't got a clue about music hear the name the Arctic Monkeys and wee themselves with excitement, most of the people who voted that probably hadn't even heard the song, never mind seen the video.
Same goes for best track, flourescent adolescent isn't bad, but men's need is far better in my opinion, god save indie, cos idiots who havn't got a clue about are turning it into a laughing stock, ie the wombats. Even girls aloud are taking the piss out of it

:(

you've got to remember nme is aimed at teenagers, so your going to get bands like the enemy and klaxons winning stuff. mostly predictable winners, its not as bad as the brits but its close.

Im so sick of this "NME" culture that seems to have swept the nation...im sorry but why are Arctic monkeys constantly nominated for every award at every ceremony, i mean over the years you see your fair share of overhyped crap but this just takes the mick
I can imagine the next NME harvest to begin soon where they "discover" the next big band and then force feed it to us until we eventually grow sick of it.
Im sure the Arctic Monkeys make a good club act but there is no reason why they should be chosen as best british act ahead of more deserving bands such as Muse & Radiohead.
I'll just hold my hands over my ears for the next year til this horrible phase of post-libertines trash is over and done with

I reckon Radiohead should have got Best British Band and Album... Arctic Monkeys will no way be around for as long as they will and In Rainbows was just class... The Monkeys are okay but not innovative like Radiohead...

The rest of the winners... Pah. Kate Nash best solo artist? The Killers??? Best International? The readers were being lazy and voted for obvious choices. Kings Of Leon's Beacause Of The Times should have deffo' won something as it was a top three album of last year!

Get a grip readers...

justboy, I think you should go get a record deal then complain about the music industry. Just a thought... :S
The Enemy definitely shouldn't have gotten Best New Band, The Pigeon Detectives should have in my opinion. and I think Arctic Monkeys deserved their awards (especially Best Track, Fluorescent Adolescent is amazing!!) except best video...come on, Justice totally deserved that!!! the D.A.N.C.E. vid is the coolest thing I've ever seen. ugh. slightly disappointed.

Ahh Matt Bellamy should of won Sexist Male (again) && Hero Of The Year but Noel is very very sexy!! I Totally agree with Villian of the Year lol ;-)

Mar 3, 2008

The Killers...best international band??? How the hell?? They didn't even release anything new last year! Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon or Interpol would have been far more worthy winners...either on the basis of their albums or as a live act. I'd expect such a shocking decision to come from the organisers of the Brits, but not NME....seems like the Brats have become everything they set out to rally against. Complete and utter sell-out.

faye_kingston

Mar 3, 2008

i cant believe that the klaxons got album of the year
i mean it was okay
but the shambles should have won it
mens needs should have been song of the year]
and kings of leon, arcade fire should have won international album]
the killers have lost it.great first album but after that thy have gone down hill.Arent the albums suposed to get better??....The enemy best new band.....They have had abot 2 good songs, the album was v disapointing.....FOALS should have got it!!!!!!!!! Pete Doherty should have won best dressed buut well done noel youlook good!!...Babyshambles should have won something!!!
