'Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace' honoured at Los Angeles ceremony

Foo Fighters' 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' has won the Album Of The Year at the NME Awards USA in Los Angeles tonight (April 23).

The prize, supported by EW.COM, was voted by NME.COM's US users.

Though unable to attend the ceremony at the El Rey Theatre, presenter Kimberly Stewart introduced a video acceptance speech sent in by the band.

"Number One Record - thanks very much for that," declared Dave Grohl in his message. "It's good to see NME making its way over here into the States, because they've been good friends of ours over in the UK for a long time."

The other nominees were:

The Hold Steady - 'Girls And Boys Of America'
The Killers - 'Sawdust'
Kings Of Leon - 'Because Of The Times'
The White Stripes - 'Icky Thump'

With the British NME Awards already a key figure on the global music scene, this year marks the launch of the NME Awards in north America.
