NME launches new music community Breakthrough

NME Breakthrough supported by Blackberry goes live

NME launches new music community Breakthrough
NME Breakthrough supported by Blackberry – the new music community for new bands and fans from NME - has launched.

The new service allows bands and users to upload their music and videos onto profiles on NME.COM for other users to listen to.

Acts who upload their music will have the chance to feature in NME magazine's Radar section and on the NME.COM Radar Blog, with Radar editor Jaimie Hodgson scouting the new service for hot new musical talent.

There will also be opportunities for acts on NME Breakthrough supported by Blackberry to play live at NME events, and a live slot at this year'sLovebox festival in London, which takes place on July 16-18.

David Moynihan, NME.COM editor, said: "NME Breakthrough supported by Blackberry is a step for us in providing a channel for artists and our users to connect with each other. Our website and magazine play a key role in keeping our audience informed with the latest news and expert reviews, and this new social networking platform is giving our users direct interaction with bands.

"It also acts as an important medium for bands to listen to what their fans want, through a simple rating feature. In addition, we are going to offer amazing opportunities on the site; the rewarded artists will perform at an NME Radar event as well as a key festival this summer."

See NME.COM/breakthrough for more information and to sign up.
