A former singer with SOUL II SOUL and KLF has died after being hit by three cars.

Doreen Waddell was fleeing store detectives who were chasing her on suspected shoplifting charges when she was struck by the cars. The accident happened outside a Tesco shop in Shoreham, West Sussex on Friday (March 1).

Waddell raced from the shop through a rear fire exit and attempted to cross the A27 nearby, but was hit by the three cars and later died in hospital. Items from the store, including children's items, were strewn across the road. Waddell, who has a four-year-old son, had to be identified by fingerprints.

She appeared on 'Keep On Movin'', by Soul II Soul from 1989 and on 'Mu', by the KLF in 1991.
