WARREN ZEVON DIES OF LUNG CANCER

US singer/songwriter WARREN ZEVON has died after a long battle against lung cancer.

The 56-year-old passed away at his home yesterday (September 7), just a fortnight after his last album 'The Wind' entered the US Top 20.

The star was best known in Britain for the 1978 minor hit 'Werewolves Of London' and for fronting REM[/url] for an album released under the name Hindu Love Gods in 1990.

Zevon was diagnosed with mesothelioma - a lung cancer usually associated with asbestos - a year ago. He had been housebound due to his illness and his last recording session was done at home.
