The comedian signs on for 2007 ceremony

Russell Brand to host BRIT Awards

Russell Brand has been confirmed as the host of the 2007 BRIT Awards.

The comedian, BBC Radio 2 and host of last year’s ShockWaves NME Awards, will take charge of the ceremony that takes place on February 14 next year.

As previously reported, Oasis are set to pick up the Outstanding Contribution Award on the night, and will play live.

The rest of the nominations for the 2007 will be announced on January 16.

The categories are:

British Single
British Breakthrough Act
British Live Act
International Male Solo Artist
International Female Solo Artist
International Group
International Album
International Breakthrough Act
