Little Steven launches own label Bruce Springsteen Tickets
Bruce Springsteen's guitarist adds label boss to his CV
E Street Band guitarist and Sopranos star Steven Van Zandt is set to launch his own record label.
Wicked Cool Records has begun life with six new albums releases, including ‘CBGB Forever’ and compilation marking the former New York venue which includes tracks from the likes of Blondie, Patti Smith and Talking Heads.
The label's releases are currently available through US retailer Best Buy.
The label is not Van Zandt's first foray into a different area of the music industry, as he already hosts the ‘Underground Garage’ radio show.
Nationally syndicated in the US, the programme attracts over one million listeners and draws attention to fledging rock bands, some of which will be released on the new label.
According to the Associated Press, Wicked Cool Records also plans to release four compilations per year under the title ‘The Coolest Songs in the World'. Volume One is set to include tracks from Mooney Suzuki, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Greenhornes.
Van Zandt has also confirmed he will be working with Bruce Springsteen again soon, explaining: "I don't know if it will be 2007, but we will certainly make a new record".
