New York-based composer Phil Kline is launching what he calls “an electronic carolling parade for an infinite number of boomboxes” in Los Angeles on December 17.
The event, conceived in 1992 as a Christmas party and art piece in New York, has expanded to cities across the US and has now found a home on the west coast.
Kline said on ‘Unsilent Night’s’ MySpace page, “It's like a Christmas caroling party except that we don't sing, but rather carry boomboxes, each playing a separate tape which is a ‘voice’ in the piece. In effect, we become a city-block long stereo system.”
Boombox carollers are invited to meet at LA’s Pan Pacific Regional Park at 7:00pm December 17.
‘Unsilent Night’ will also take place in New York’s Washington Square Park at 7:00pm on December 16.
