South By Southwest comes to a close

South By Southwest concluded in Austin, Texas tonight (March 18).

The five-day event saw hundreds of bands play official SXSW showcases and day parties, across the week.

Highlights included The Stooges live return, with a performance at Stubb’s in front of a capacity crowd.

The week saw performances by Bloc Party, The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Cold War Kids and The Horrors, all of which took place in venues throughout the Texan capital.

NME.COM kicked off proceedings with a barbecue at Stubb’s featuring performances from Lily Allen, The Bravery and Razorlight, while The Rapture performed across town at La Zona Rosa.

Pete Townshend joined The Fratellis on stage at Stubb’s on Friday (March 16) while Thursday saw a superstar line-up join Tom Morello at The Parish. Perry Farrell and Slash both joined the Rage Against The Machine man for the show.
