Village People 'policeman' arrested

Disco legend in knife drama

Village People member Victor Willis has been arrested in San Diego after an alleged knife attack.

The woman, reportedly Willis’ girlfriend, told police that he had choked her and threatened her with a knife on Friday (March 23).

Police said that he had been out on bail on a similar charge last month

As previously reported Willis, who dressed as a policeman during his time in the band, admitted charges of cocaine possession last July.

He also faced charges in October 2005 over a separate incident, and was given 16 months for gun and cocaine possession. At this trial Willis’s drug problem were blamed on his exit from The Village People in 1980, reports the Sunday Mirror.

Willis co-wrote the massive disco hits ’In the Navy’ and ’YMCA’.
