Country singer's husband is hit with child sex charges

Country singer Wynonna Judd has filed for divorce after her husband was arrested and charged with child sex offences last week.

Dan R Roach, 49, was arrested and charged in Abilene, Texas on March 22 on three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a minor.

Judd has been married to Roach since 2003, and filed for divorce on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences".

Writing on her website, Judd said: "I am obviously devastated. Our family will pull together, begin the healing process and hopefully - by the grace of God - become stronger. We will move forward with our faith, family and our friends to find resolution to this difficult situation."

Court papers show that the pair have been estranged since 18 February, according to BBC News.

The 42-year-old singer’s website further states that Roach checked into a rehabilitation clinic in Texas shortly after on 21 February for treatment for drug and alcohol dependency.

Judd has sold nearly 30 million records in her career, and her sister is the actress Ashley Judd, whose screen credits include 'Heat' and 'Double Jeopardy'.
