Date finally set for R Kelly case
After pending for five years trial is set
A trial date of September 17 has finally been set for the criminal case against R Kelly.
The case has been pending for five years.
At a court hearing on Wednesday (August 1) Judge Vincent Gaughan met with Kelly, his lawyers and the lead prosecutor in Chicago on the case for over an hour.
When they emerged from Gaughan’s chambers in the Criminal Courts the date of Kelly’s trial on child pornography charges was announced.
Assistant State’s Attorney Shauna Boliker, who is prosecuting the case, declined to comment, as did Kelly’s lawyers Ed Genson and Sam Adam Jr, who recently joined the defence team.
Cook County prosecutors charged Kelly with 114 counts of child pornography.
Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charges, reports Chicago’s radio station WBBM 780.
