Pearl Jam close out last night at Lollapalooza

Thousands pack into Grant Park for last night

Pearl Jam closed Lollapalooza tonight (August 5) with a performance watched by a gigantic crowd.

The audience had been building since early evening, and when Eddie Vedder took to the stage for the third time this weekend, the roars were deafening.

Opening with ‘Why Go’, the band played a string of their greatest hits including ‘Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town’, ‘Even Flow’, ‘Alive’ and ‘Not For You’.

The band also performed a song campaigning to save Lake Michigan from waste from BP Amoco, as well as ‘Better Man’, ‘Daughter’, which they interjected with ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ after which Vedder introduced a paralysed Iraq war veteran onstage to speak out against the war in Iraq.

As predicted, Vedder also welcomed onstage Ben Harper, with whom he covered a on Friday night and the pair performed acoustically before being joined onstage by around 20 people for ‘Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World’.
