Tabloid Hell: The Spice Girls v Britney!

It's the catfight of the year

Tabloid Hell: The Spice Girls v Britney!
Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for the catfight of the year – the reinvigorated and reformed Spice Girls against the shambles that passes for Britney Spears these days.

Yep, according to today’s Mirror, the two acts are battling it out to open the prestigious (we presume) Fashion Rocks event at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October.

Apparently, the Spices have “set their heart” on making their big comeback at the event, but organisers are reportedly desperate to get Britney to open the concert, making it her first big show since she reportedly went a bit nuts.

One can only imagine what that would be like. Remember when she did that tour earlier this year, mimed incoherently, and generally pissed everyone off? Well, that would still probably be better than listening to The Spice Girls. It’s been a long time since they set foot on a stage, but NME can still vividly recall that their five voices in unison sounded like several cats being strangled, next to a wounded and very loud buffalo. For all the comeback hype, we haven’t forgotten. Only if you erased our memories with mind rubbers would we struggle for total recall.

So bring on Britney, we say. The lesser of two evils, and it would be genuinely hilarious. But let them have a MASSIVE fight to decide. Five against one might not seem fair, but we reckon ms Spears could still ‘ave em. And that would be worth watching way more than any shoddy live performance.

Having said that, Girl Power and all that eh? Maybe they could ALL do it. Just one thing…how many egos does it take to fill the Albert Hall?
