US country singer Mindy McCready has been sentenced to jail for a year for breach of probation.
The singer was on probation for fraudulently obtaining painkillers in 2004. She was found guilty of battery and resisting arrest in Florida in July, which led to her conviction.
McCready’s last album, 2002’s self-titled effort, sold poorly and she has not released any material since. She is best known for her hit ‘Guys Do It All The Time’.
She has had a turbulent relationship with law authorities in recent years, being arrested for driving offences as well as the offences that led to her conviction. She will be jailed in Nashville.
