C-Murder to be retried for murder

Rapper faces life in prison if convicted

C-Murder to be retried for murder

C-Murder is to be retried for second degree murder, it was announced yesterday (October 16).

The rapper, whose real name is Cory Miller, was originally found guilty of the charge by a Louisiana jury in 2003, but the conviction was thrown out after Judge Martha Sassone discovered that prosecutors withheld criminal background information on witnesses in the case from Miller's attorney.

Miller stands accused of the shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a Louisiana night club on January 12, 2002.

A new trial date of February 11, 2008 has been set, reports the Associated Press. If convicted, the rapper faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.
