Arcade Fire's Win Butler hit in face during gig

Arcade Fire

Is Halloween show band's last ever in Nottingham?

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler was hit in the face by a bottle during last night's (October 31) gig in Nottingham.

The band, who were dressed in Halloween costumes (pictured), were playing ’Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)’ when he got hit.

Butler changed the lyrics to: ”Where’d you go? / No seriously/ Where’d you go you fucker?”

The band went off stage and returned for a performance of ’Rebellion (Lies)’ and, according to a witness, “someone threw something again”.

Butler stopped playing for a second time and told the audience: “We’’ll never play Nottingham again" before continuing with the song.

Meanwhile, the show saw the live debut of track 'Surf City Eastern Block', plus a performance of The Smiths' 'Still Ill'.

The band are now set to play three sold out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace from Saturday (November 17-19).

Some idiot chucked something that some people said was a shoe and some said was a bottle. It hit Win full on in the face. He slamed the mic stand down and went to the front of the crowd. Soon after, he went off but came back on to finish the Power Out/Rebellion double. Someone then threw what looked like a red ball at him. He actually said something like "If one more thing gets thrown, Im outta here and we will never play Fucking Nottingham Again" They then came back out to play an amazing Intervention + Wake Up encore where Win got into the crowd and walked round the audience.

Gaz has it right - and it was impressive to see Win take to the crowd for pretty much the whole of Rebellion - respect to him, hope he felt better after that. I can't blame him for being pretty angry. Whoever threw the bottle should be utterly ashamed (shame no one singled them out for Win to deal with!). Arcade Fire were excellent - fantastic show.

it was definately a shoe.
but he only went off for like 5 seconds after power out... and the second thing that was thrown was a glowstick, but that was about ankle high..

What a dick. Who does he think he is? I saw them in Cardiff on Tuesday, they were phemonimal so why would you do something like that? Man that encore is gooood!

I was disgusted by the Twat who threw the object at Win. It could have easily hit one of the girls on stage. Up until then I had not noticed anything else being thrown. I thought considering it was a Nottingham crowd the reception given to the band was loud and enthusiastic which has not always been the case at several gigs I have witnessed in the city. Hope Arcade fire will return..........
