Radiohead frontman turned down Paul McCartney duet

The ex-Beatle tried to get Thom Yorke to sing with him

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he asked Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke to record a duet with him - but Yorke turned him down.

McCartney explained that Yorke, who famously duetted with PJ Harvey in 2000 on her song 'This Mess We're In', said he now wasn’t happy working on music other than that made with his own band and his solo material.

Speaking on Channel 4’s 'T4' programme, McCartney said: “My daughter was putting an album together and she put us in touch. I asked Thom to do a duet, but he said he couldn’t because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead’s material.”

Yorke released a solo album, 'The Eraser', in 2006.

That's right, Macca. Never works with no-one else. Not ever. Oh. No. That PJ Harvey duet you may have heard about couldn't have happened. Just a rumour. Oh then there's that mythical Bjork duet. And Venus In Furs. And UNKLE. And Sparklehorse... over the phone. Oh and Band Aid 20. In fact is there anyone he doesn't feel happy working with apart from Sir Paul?

Apparently he wasnt happy to work with Sir Paul, him saying that he doesnt want to record other peoples music must be very very recent resolution, this year as far as I remember he recorded his vocals for the Modeselektor album.

Taken completely out of context!
It was Macca talking about how he could not really play piano, only his own songs and was saying how it was the same for Thom, that he only knew how to play his and Radiohead songs and couldn't really play piano that well. Ridiculous.

What´s the big deal? Thom is a great artist and if he doesn´t want to work with Sir Paul.. well, he just doesn´t. That´s it! He must have a good reason to reject the offer, whether he says it or not.
