Chris Daughtry beats Akon and Fergie

'American Idol' tops list of US best sellers of year

Former ’American Idol’ contestant Chris Daughtry has the biggest selling US album of 2007.

His band Daughtry sold 3.2 million copies of their self-titled album in teh States.

It was followed in the end-of-year chart by Akon, who sold 2.7 million copies of ’Konvicted’. Fergie’s ’The Dutchess’ was the third biggest-selling album, shifting 2.4 million copies.

Meanwhile Beyonce’s ’Irreplaceable’ was the best selling US single of 2007, followed by Rihanna’s ’Umbrella’.

The Police’s reunion tour was named the highest grossing US tour of the year, grossing £106 million ($212 million), reports Yahoo.
