Former rap star MC Hammer has announced that he will head up a new website dedicated to showcasing dance music videos.
Hammer, whose real name is Stanley Burrell, is co-founder and chief strategy officer of DanceJam.com, which aims to upstage YouTube for sharing and watching dance videos.
Inspired by the popularity of reality television shows like 'Dancing With The Stars', Hammer and his business partners have spent several months videotaping people dancing around the US to launch the site, reports the Associated Press.
The site will include web-based dance competitions where contestants submit videos that will be judged by viewers online. It will also feature dancing demonstrations.
Hammer, who reached the pinnacle of his popularity in the early 1990s with his song 'U Can't Touch This', has built a reputation for being on the cutting edge of technology by using innovative technological methods to advance his career.
