Major record labels deny free download service claim

Companies say they haven’t signed up to free download service Qtrax

Four major record labels have denied that they have signed an agreement with Qtrax, the service planning to offer free music downloads.

Qtrax promises it will offer music downloads free, garnering revenue through advertising instead of download fees.

Qtrax had claimed that it had signed agreements with Sony BMG, Warner Music, EMI and Universal, but the companies have since denied the claim, reports News.com.au.

Qtrax are claiming that they are still in discussions with the major labels, reports AP.
