Duffy knocks Basshunter off the top

Soul newcomer Duffy has knocked Basshunter off the top of the UK singles chart after five weeks at Number One.

The Welsh singer shot straight to the top with debut single 'Mercy'.

Nickelback stayed at Number Two with 'Rockstar' while Basshunter fell to Number Three with 'Now You're Gone'.

This week’s top ten singles are:

1. Duffy - 'Mercy'
2. Nickelback – ‘Rockstar’
3. Basshunter – ‘Now You're Gone’
4. David Jordan – ‘Sun Goes Down’
5. Adele – ‘Chasing Pavements’
6. Rihanna – ‘Don't Stop The Music’
7. H Two O - 'What's It Gonna Be'
8. Kelly Rowland – ‘Work’
9. The Feeling – ‘I Thought It Was Over’
10. Goldfrapp – ‘A&E’


Jack Johnson’s 'Sleep Through The Static’ stays at Number One in the albums chart, while Michael Jackson’s 25th anniversary edition of 'Thriller' is in at Number Three.

Elsewhere, Morrissey's 'Greatest Hits' went in at Five while One Night Only were in at Ten with debut album 'Started A Fire'.
