Radiohead launch social networking site

W.A.S.T.E. is up and running

Radiohead have launched an on-line social networking website along the lines of Facebook.

The band have created a web-based forum called W.A.S.T.E. where fans and friends can share photos, details, view tour dates, and watch videos by various artists such as Battles, Nick Cave, and of course Radiohead themselves.

In a message posted on the site yesterday (April 3), Radiohead wrote, "For those who are interested and want to stick around, we'll be adding plenty more bits and pieces in the coming weeks and ironing out any wrinkles or annoyances the best we can. Hope you find something interesting to play with."

Check out the site now at Waste-central.com.

thats not selling out you tit, selling out was if they put it up on youtube or they put it on a mainstream site so more people can look, this is just the same as having a band website but its just better

How is launching a networking site selling out? They're not writing songs for Coca-Cola. Moron.

I fail to see how they've "sold out." What other evidence do you have of this?

1. releasing in rainbows in low bit rate, knowing that the fans would buy it twice (cd as well)2. expensive tickets for London shows3. charging fans to download elements of their single to remix (maximises sales and chart position)4. social networking site - you can guarantee that they will be making shitloads of money from advertising revenue( that's why all corporations set up social networking sites)So now its Radiohead Inc. And fans like you don't see how you're being manipulated. As a former fan myself i wouldn't have minded so much if only the new album was genius, but its not, its stale and average.

Also NME, W.A.S.T.E. is their online shop, the social networking is W.A.S.T.E. Central.

Hard to level accusations of 'selling out' to a band who gave away their last album for free.

Think we can safely say 'drgonzo2012' has been kicked into touch lol.... there's a taxi waiting for ya man grab ya coat ;) seriously though the 2nd comment hits it on the head, (no pun intended) its just an extension of there band site! NUFF SED !

I agree with alot the above comments. How the fuck having a socal networking site selling out? Forums have people who write to each other in the same way and that's not selling out.
