The Killers and Lou Reed win Best Track at NME Awards USA

The Killers have won Best Indie/Alternative Track at the NME Awards USA in Los Angeles tonight (April 23).

The Las Vegas band picked up the award, voted by NME.COM's US users, at the ceremony at the El Rey Theatre.

The song, which features The Velvet Underground legend Lou Reed, features on The Killers' recent rarities collection 'Sawdust'.

The band's drummer Ronnie Vanucci said: "I'd like to accept this award on behalf of the band for the song 'Tranquilizer' (sic), and on a serious note I'd like to thank the people that voted for us because they are the ones that matter."

The other nominees were:

Foo Fighters - 'The Pretender'
LCD Soundsystem - 'All My Friends'
My Chemical Romance - 'Teenagers'
The White Stripes - 'Icky Thump'
