Singer set for US tour dates

Tina Turner is set to announce details of a new US tour, despite having claimed she had retired from playing live eight years ago.

The star revealed that she would embark on a US tour in October while speaking to Oprah Winfrey on US television. She said that the tour would begin in Kansas City.

Full tour dates are expected to be announced soon, with tickets set to go on sale on May 12.

The singer had previously announced her retirement from playing live shows.

In Zurich in 2000 she made the announcement, with her spokesperson explaining that "she wants to go out at the top".
