Aphex Twin's Oxegen set hit by 'safety' restrictions

Richard D. James sends crowd too wild

Aphex Twin played to a half-empty tent at the Oxegen Festival tonight (July 11), despite crowds of people being turned away from his set on the Pet Sounds Stage.

Midway through a typically hardcore set, organisers closed access to the tent due to safety concerns.

Though the venue was only half full, they feared people were being crushed towards the front of the venue as an enthusiastic crowd went wild for Richard D. James' near two-hour set.

However, those present were treated to a set which included a re-worked version of 'Come To Daddy', which featured male dancers making distorted faces and wearing masks plus typically unsettling visuals, which included images of Joy Division and The Who.
