'Kele Okereke was right about Sex Pistols racist attack'
Gruff Rhys backs Okereke in 'racism' row
As previously reported on NME.COM, Kele Okereke accused a member of the Sex Pistols' entourage of racially abusing him at the Summercase Festival last weekend (July 19).
John Lydon denied the claims of racial abuse, claiming that the Bloc Party singer was "lying" about the incident.
Rhys, who was present backstage when the confrontation occurred, has claimed that Okereke was indeed racially abused.
"The statements Kele has said are absolutely true," he told MTV News. "It did happen."
"It was horrific," he continued. "Kele is a very brave man and what he said is exactly what happened."
