Britney Spears' father to maintain control of her affairs
LA court extends his conservatorship
Britney Spears' father will retain control of her affairs, according to a court order issued in Los Angeles today (July 31).
James Spears will be responsible for his daughter's finances and various aspects of her personal life until the end of the year, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered today.
The conservatorship was put into place following the pop star's erratic behaviour earlier this year, which ended up in her hospitalisation. She has since appeared to clean up her act, making successful TV cameos and working on a new album.
Meanwhile, Spears' attorney said that he will not seek an extension of a restraining order against her former friend and sometimes manager Sam Lufti. He added that she still does not want to be contacted by him, reports the Associated Press.
Spears' mother, Lynne, requested the temporary restraining order earlier this year, alleging that Lufti held her daughter hostage in her own home, gave her drugs and took control of her finances.
