Radiohead, The Raconteurs and Bloc Party were joined by emerging British talent including Duffy, The Go! Team and The Enemy on day one of the three day Lollapolloza festival yesterday (August 1).

Over 75,000 fans are expected at Grant Park in Chicago for the Perry Farrell-organised event - and it was Radiohead who brought the most devoted followers yesterday. A large number of their fans bolted for the main stage as soon as the gates opened, spending a long day in the sun waiting for the band.

Radiohead drew largely on new album 'In Rainbows' but also rolled out some of their greatest hits in their 24-song set - including 'No Surprises', 'The Bends', 'Paranoid Android' and 'Fake Plastic Trees'.

Radiohead played:

'15 Step'
'Airbag'
'There There'
'All I Need'
'Nude'
'Weird Fishes/Arpeggi'
'The Gloaming'
'The National Anthem'
'Faust Arp'
'No Surprises'
'Jigsaw Falling Into Place'
'Reckoner'
'Lucky'
'The Bends'
'Everything In Its Right Place'
'Fake Plastic Trees'
'Bodysnatchers'
'Videotape'
'Paranoid Android'
'Dollars And Cents'
'House Of Cards'
'Optimistic'
'2+2=5'
'Idioteque'

Earlier, The Go! Team and Black Keys were two of the best received of the day time bands, while Bloc Party built on their growing stateside popularity with scorching set. Frontman Kele Okereke wore a t-shirt emblazoned with a large picture of US presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Lollapalooza first started in 1991 when it grew from the idea of an alternative festival by Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell. It has had a chequered run. It was promoted annually until 1997 when it was put on ice until 2003. The rolling revue toured north America that year but it was mothballed again in 2004 until 2006 when it moved to its current Chicago home.

It will run annually at Grant Park until 2011.
