Be Your Own Pet play chaotic set at Reading

Band cap off career by trashing their gear onstage

The soon-to-be defunct Be Your Own Pet played a chaotic set at Reading Festival today (August 22).

The band, who announced recently that they are to split at the end of their current tour played the NME/Radio 1 Stage kicking off with 'Bicycle, Bicycle, You Are My Bicycle' from their eponymous 2006 album.

Frontwoman Jemina Pearl Abegg made reference to the fact that the band were under-prepared for the set, saying: "We haven't practised for a while, can you tell?"

Straight after, the band fired into fan-favourite 'Heart Throb', from their most recent album 'Get Awkward'.

Before playing 'Vacation', Abegg even tried her best to find drummer John Eatherly a girlfriend, saying to the crowd: "John is single, and he wants to get laid. Who’s gonna be the lucky lady? Anyone?!"

Much to the crowd's pleasure, the band then mixed 'Get Awkward' track 'Becky with the Gerry Goffin and Carole King-penned pop perennial 'The Loco-Motion'.

After playing final song 'Bunk Trunk Skunk', the band trashed their instruments onstage, while bassist Nathan Vasquez dived into the crowd.
