Oasis' Noel Gallagher assaulted in Toronto

Oasis' Noel Gallagher was attacked by a fan at the V Festival at Toronto Island Park last night (September 7).

While the band were playing 'Morning Glory', midway through the band's headline set at the festival, a spectator rushed the stage from the side viewing area and pushed the guitarist to the ground.

Globeandmail.com reports that the intruder was apprehended by security guards and later charged with assault.

The attack resulted in a brief interlude in Oasis' set, before they returned to play six further songs including 'Don't Look back In Anger', 'Wonderwall', and their set-closing cover of The Beatles' 'I Am The Walrus'.

Noel's spokesperson said in a statement that the guitarist fell "heavily" on his monitor speakers and was taken to hospital after the show where he was examined for a "suspected fractured rib and ligament damage". Meanwhile "the assailant was detained in police custody and will be charged with assault".

They added: "No decision has been made regarding Tuesday's (September 9) concert in London, Ontario, but fans are urged to keep checking the band's web site at Oasisinet.com and local media for updates.

They should have carried on! When Thom Yorke was rushed by someone on stage the band, including Thom, didn't miss a single note and carried on rather than make paying fans stand around.

I agree with mozafan, its not really funny as that bloke could have had a weapon. How can people take the mick out of the security for then rushing on ? Noel could have been stabbed, in todays day and age you cant take any chances but its bad how he could rush on and do that.Noel went straight down as he didnt know a guy was running to him to push him over.

Some people can find it funny but when the guy is doing his job and some nutjob runs onstage pushing him over there's nothing he could of done, could of had a knife or anything, and considering Noel not just the head of Oasis, he's a Dad and husband it's quite scary, how security not notice him backstage? Noel stood no chance, no one would in any situation if you get pushed by someone you've not seen (playing guitar at the same time more so), that nutjob deserve every single bit of critism and hatred he gets.

If any musician is assulted on stage its a disgrace, that guy should be made an example out of, I hope they gave him a good F**king kicking in back stage. He should be banned from any future music event. (hard to control)If that was any other Band member or Idol you like you'd be fuming, I can believe this, its not F**king on at all. Especially when people have shed a load of money for their upcoming tour, he sounds pretty badly beat up. TOSS!!

this is appalling... my first time seeing oasis and i got to experience this. i cannot believe the security let this happen. we were all expecting the worst in the crowd, it was really scary. i cannot believe people are laughing at this.

Anyone would fall down including you fuckwad. This isn't funny at all. No one deserves to be attacked on stage. Liam diddn't even see it happen and he was confused and took a second to react. Thom Yorke? Who gives a shit about him, he would have snapped in half if someone had pushed him with the same force. Noel still looked cool when being flung off the stage though. This sort of thing shouldnt happen though, Ian Brown had it 2 recently and was hospitalised and of course that Pantera bloke. I wish Liam had smacked him 2, that would have been amazing

Noel gets shoved in the back - theres no other option but for him to go over.The guy then turns to go at Liam who jumps out of the way. Security then pile on the guy. Liam then could have stayed where he was out of it all, but decides to go up to the bloke and chin him. Thats my assessment of it anyway.

I saw them in Seattle, and they played well. Liam really sounds healthy again. Hopefully, Noel will be able to finish the tour so the rest of the fans can see them, too. Yeah, that's messed up what that fool did.
