The Grateful Dead

They will perform at a fundraiser in October

The Grateful Dead have confirmed rumours that they will perform for US Presidential candidate Barack Obama at a fundraiser next month.

The four remaining members of The Grateful Dead will perform at Penn State University's Bryce Jordan Center. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart played a concert in February to encourage people to vote, and will be joined by fourth member Bill Kreutzmann on October 13 for the Obama fundraiser, reports Variety.

Members of the Allman Brothers Band are also due to perform at the event, increasing the likelihood that Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule man Warren Haynes will perform with the ‘Dead.

The gig may be a test-run for a rumoured full tour to take place in 2009.
