Johnny Marr joins John Frusciante on new album

Flea also helps out fellow Red Hot Chili Pepper on solo effort

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has recruited The Smiths' former guitarist Johnny Marr to play on his latest solo album.

Frusciante has also tapped his bandmate Flea to help out on the LP, 'The Empyrean', which is due out in the US on January 20, reports Billboard. This will be the prolific Frusciante's tenth solo album.

Meanwhile, Marr has been collaborating with The Cribs, and is currently Visiting Professor to the University of Salford's School of Media, Music and Performance, leading a series of music workshops on the composition and performance of popular music, as previously reported.
