Anyone who downloads music to their iPods in New York is set to be hit with an 'iTax' on every song they buy.
Governor David Paterson has decided to bring in the 4% tax on music, video and e-book downloads next year to help tackle the financial crisis, reports The Guardian.
Paterson has announced 137 new charges, including the newly-nicknamed 'Obesity Tax' on unhealthy soft drinks, and higher taxes on everything from beer to cinema tickets.
Tax on taxi rides, beer, cigars, massages and sports event and cinema tickets are also set to rise in the city.
