Lily Allen denies saying 'kids should try drugs'

Singer threatens legal action via Twitter

Lily Allen has denied comments attributed to her that suggested she thought parents should encourage children to try drugs.

Comments on the topic the singer made in Dutch magazine Revu were reprinted in the News Of The World today (February 15).

However, Allen has accused the paper of using an inaccurate translation that misrepresents her views.

"Phoning my lawyers and taking legal action, News Of The World need a better Dutch translator," she declared via her Twiiter account after the article ran. "As if I would say that. And they know it."

The newspaper's article quoted Allen as saying: "Parents should say, 'Drugs might seem fun, but they do funny things to your brain. Some people react to it good, some don't. Try it and see what you think'."

They also quoted Conservative Member Of Parliament Patrick Mercer, who called her apparent comments "extraordinary".

Is it just me, or does Lily Allen speak alot of sense? On, you know, stuff, not necessarily this particular subject.... Maybe it's the drugs talking.

What a stupid thing for someone to say, especially someone looked up to by thousands of kids. That is shameful and seriously damaging to both her credibility as a mature adult and to the anti-drugs campaign currently going on. Unbelievable.

...........if all this is true, and she has said these things......just to promote her latest Album, then this is an Artist that has lowered herself so low, that maybe she needs to look into the eyes of a few kids that are so hooked on drugs, and see the emptyness and heartache that this shit causes. Lily Allen is a Fuck.

How funny. I find Tory MP Patrick Mercer's comments on racist bullying in the British Army equally extraordinary.
