Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello has announced a new musical project entitled Street Sweeper.

Morello has joined forces with Boots Riley of Oakland hip-hop act The Coup to form the band, who recently completed work on their debut album. The have also landed the opening slot of a forthcoming summer tour with Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction.

According to Morello, Street Sweeper's sound features "huge steamroller riffs combined with depth, charge, funk".

Meanwhile, Riley says the message of the album is revolutionary. "This is a time when the working class is being fleeced left and right," he said. "More families will be homeless and more people will be jobless. They'll need something to listen to on their iPods while storming Wall Street."
