Pixies to play 2009 Isle Of Wight Festival

Band to play before Neil Young this year

Pixies will play this year's Isle Of Wight Festival.

The show, on June 14 before headliner Neil Young, will be the US indie legends' only UK festival appearance this year.

The group have played intermittent shows since their 2004 reformation tour, including a headline slot at the 2005 Reading and Leeds festivals.

'It was hard to think of someone capable of complementing the musical talent of Neil Young," said John Giddings, festival promoter, "but once I had the idea it was blindly obvious and it will surely be a legendary day on the Isle Of Wight."

The line-up for the festival so far is:

The Prodigy
Basement Jaxx
The Ting Tings
Pendulum
Stereophonics
Razorlight
Neil Young
Pixies
The Charlatans

Saw the Pixies headline Reading 2005 and they were on of the best, most exciting live acts I've seen and I didn't know what they were going to do next. Awesome. Highly recommended.
